About Zeynep Sanduvaç

Social Worker, B.A., Public Administration, M.A., Internationally accredited Core Humanitarian Standards Instructor.

Zeynep has been working on Conflict and Disaster Risk Reduction (C-DRR), Psycho-social Support (PSS), Education in Emergencies (EiE), Child Protection in Emergencies, Business Continuity in Emergencies and Strategic Human Resources Management related national and international projects for over 20 years.

Zeynep involved in several community based, participatory situation and risk assessment, policy dialogues with stakeholders (specifically with government bodies), community-based participatory material development, capacity building on advocacy skills, research, project proposal design and project management, strategic human resource management related projects.
She worked for:

  • Bogazici University for 10 years as a part-time faculty staff- lecturer on Disasters and Business Continuity (due to international consultancy positions- quitted)
  • USAID/OFDA in İstanbul (6 years project) Disaster Preparedness of İstanbul and Marmara Region. A Multisectoral and multi-disciplinary project, including child protection and education in emergencies.
  • World Bank- İstanbul Government for two years as Social Consultant in İstanbul Earthquake Preparedness and Social Research Program.
  • She has been working as an independent DRR and Conflict Reduction Consultant, Sphere and CHS Instructor. Some selected organizations (not limited to these): Geo Hazard International/ Central Asia Regional Earthquake Reduction Initiative (CARESI) in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan; JICA and TR Disaster and Emergency Presidency (AFAD) in İstanbul; Concern Worldwide Turkey, American Red-Cross and Shake-Out Drills in LA/USA; Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Turkey, Palestine Ministry of Education-Save the Children, Oxfam UK in Gazze, TR Ministry of Education-UNICEF Turkey, Vesuvius- Foseco and British Academy; Plan International in Tanzania, Ethiopia; INEE in Uganda, Kenya.

She is the author of Basic Disaster Awareness, Children Working in the Street, Drugs and Stimulating Substances books. She is co-author of Positive Youth Development: Development of School / Social Services based Standards Operational Procedure (SOP) against Violence, Psychological First Aid Program. Community Disaster Volunteer Program. Section:4 Based on Israel, Community Stress Prevention Center/ CSPC.
