The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) is an independent humanitarian organization of public utility founded in 1942. SARC was admitted to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in 1948 and is committed to the Geneva Conventions and the seven basic principles of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent.
SARC is headquartered in Damascus with branches across fourteen Syrian governorates and 94 sub-branches.
As Sphere’s focal point in Syria, SARC assumes its commitment to the humanitarian principles and strives to promote and advocate for the application of Sphere standards among all humanitarian partners in Syria.
